Web Development

Most of my time I was dealing with e-commerce web-development. My very first project was e-commerce web-site, which is specifies on selling equipment for welding, different tools and industrial supplies. I was on a position of stock photographer, but in the same time I had a dream to open my own e-commerce web-site. The idea was to understand how everything is working, what is required to open e-commerce web-site, what knowledge`s do I need to know if its necessary to upgrade design or add new features. By taking advice of the developers, my very first CMS appeared to be OpenCart. This is open-source e-commerce platform, pretty adjustable, and has a great community.

While working at the company, on my free time, I started to develop my own web store, which is specializing on athletic shoes. This experience helped me to practice in HTML, CSS, I was able to redesign website to my preferences. In the same time, knowing even basic HTML its not enough to make actual web-site do sales to people in the internet.I went through a course of SEO to understand how search engines are working, importance of corrects meta tags and descriptions. Learning and experimenting with different strategies. My very first e-commerce web-site started to sell really fast, and had top 5 positions in google.

Shortly after launching my web store, I received an order to create another e-commerce web site, which will be selling sports goods – “ex-sport”. It has simple design, same navigation structure. I received image file, how it should look like at the end – and now this image is live, and doing sales till present day.

In 2014 I had opportunity to do internship in United States. My two main priorities were to do redesign of existing company web-site, and also creating a new e-commerce store. Originally company`s page was on vertiom cms, which is completely unfamiliar to me. From my understanding – that web site should be a “new level”, with modern industrial look, that would represent the company from the best side, giving trust to potential customers. That was a challenge for me to do this job, however after a while, I uploaded a new version.

While doing redesign, I did share my time to start developing online store. This project meant to sale industrial soaps and absorbent supplies. I decided to make it on updated release of OpenCart cms, eventually upgraded it with tons extra features. Also, thanks to the company, I had opportunity to visit IRCA Exhibit in Chicago related to e-commerce development. All new knowledge`s are already applied to this project. For example some of them: easy navigation, customer reviews on a main page, payment options, delivery options, one page checkout, online chat support, video reviews, blog and “how to” articles, social media updates, other SEO recommendations, and many other…

I think there are a lot things that still unknown to me in web-development but I do like challenging projects, to improve myself and grow personally and professionally.
